© 2010  site maintained and designed by markframpton.com     The Green River Chamber, Rock Springs Chamber and Flaming Gorge Chamber are constantly working to provide diversity and bring travelers to our area. In an effort to achieve just that we are jointly sponsoring a new event in January, the Burbot Bash. Burbot or ling cod are an invasive game fish that has just recently found its way into the Flaming Gorge Reservoir. This very aggressive fish is having a devastating effect on the other native species in the lake. The Burbot Bash will be a week long Fishing Derby with a "Fishing Expo" that will kick the event off, January 22, 2011, at Buckboard Marina, with fishing tips, hands on demonstrations on cleaning the fish, cooking tips, and ice fishing safety. The Burbot Bash will conclude on January 29, 2011, at Manila, with the presentation of prize money and door prizes.      There will Prize money for tagged Burbot caught, with the 1st Place team receiving $5,000; prize money for largest Burbot caught, 1st place team receiving $1,500. Most Burbot caught $600 cash prize. There will also be prize money for the youth division, Biggest Fish will receive $100 and Smallest Fish will receive $100. Registration fee will be $30 per person, teams up to four people on each team. There will also be a youth registration fee for just $5 per youth ages 15 years and under. The final check in day on January 29, 2011 will feature a fish cleaning contest with $500 going to the fastest Burbot cleaner! Flaming Gorge Resort will be on hand to have a free fish fry! This week long event will also provide the Wyoming and Utah Game & Fish with valuable information on how the Burbot are moving through the lake, their population and more. There will be 500 Burbot tagged; contestants that catch a tagged fish will be put into a special drawing for some great prizes. * Based  on 400 participants
